Environmental Conference of the Humanities

Call for Papers

Join us November 6, 2026, at the University of Lethbridge for the second annual Environmental Conference of the Humanities (ECOTH). ECOTH embraces the all-encompassing study of the environment in the context of the humanities. This year’s ECOTH celebrates the coulees surrounding the University of Lethbridge and their connotations of flow, connections, and corridors with our theme of Coulees and Corridors. The word coulee, from the French verb couler, means “to flow,” and these valleys invite us and our fellow creatures to flow with and connect to the land. We encourage proposals for papers, panels, creative presentations, and posters that expand our ideas about Coulees and Corridors in relation to the environmental humanities. Topics for exploration include but are not limited to:

More generally, we welcome proposals for papers, panels, creative presentations, and posters on all topics within the field of Environmental Humanities, including but not limited to:

We strongly encourage undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and other emerging researchers to submit their proposals as the conference provides an inclusive platform for sharing ideas, receiving feedback, and fostering academic growth.
