Environmental Conference of the Humanities

Call for Papers

Join us November 7, 2025, at the University of Lethbridge for the inaugural Environmental Conference of the Humanities (ECOTH). ECOTH embraces the all-encompassing study of the environment in the context of the humanities. We welcome proposals for papers, panels, creative presentations, and posters on all topics within the field of Environmental Humanities, including but not limited to:

  • eco-criticism
  • environmental history
  • environmental philosophy and ethics
  • environmental anthropology
  • TEK in/and the humanities
  • political ecology
  • critical animal studies
  • science and technology studies
  • ecocultural studies

We strongly encourage undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and other emerging researchers to submit their proposals as the conference provides an inclusive platform for sharing ideas, receiving feedback, and fostering academic growth.

Guidlines

Please submit a proposal (maximum 300 words) and a biographical statement (maximum 75 words) via this form no later than 23:59(MST) on October 3, 2025. For panels (up to 4 presenters), applicants are asked to share the title of the proposed panel in addition to the individual paper titles and presenter bios. Authors may submit multiple abstracts (e.g. one single author submission and one co-authored submission) but may only present once.
